The XV750E was a sports tourer developed based on the American cruiser-styled XV750 Special that was released the year before. Keeping the original 75 degree V-twin engine and pressed backbone monocoque frame, the chassis settings and riding position were optimized. Furthermore, it adopted several measures to increase comfort in long distance touring like a specially designed fully covered chain drive unit with enclosed grease lubrication and air dampers on the front and rear suspensions.
