The Street Rally is a more extreme looking version of the MT-09 for riders who want the ultimate new generation performance bike. With its aggressive new bodywork, special chassis parts and unique graphics, this is the ultimate MT!

Its high-torque 850cc 3-cylinder engine and lightweight aluminium chassis ensure that the MT-09 Street Rally has an outstanding power to weight ratio for exhilarating acceleration and agile handling performance.

Exclusive features on the MT-09 Street Rally include fuel tank shrouds as well as fork covers and side number plates. And a new flatter seat and wider footrests ensure a sporty ride.

The 2014 Yamaha MT-09 Street Rally debuted with Valentino Rossi himself straddling the machine, and Yamaha filmed the bike’s promo reel at The Doctor’s motorcycle ranch outside Tavullia, Italy — which is a fun piece of trivia for MotoGP fans.

The 2014 MT-09 FZ-09 in the US, with a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled 850cc three-cylinder engine. it has a a 120 degree firing intervals, together with unique, unequal length intake funnels.  It has four-valve heads and fuel injection, as well as a relatively short stroke (78 mm bore and 59.1 mm stroke) with an 11.5-1 compression ratio. The transmission is a six-speed.

Ride-by-wire throttle and Yamaha D-Mode, which allows switching between three throttle-control maps for different performance characteristics, is also included. A counter-rotating balance shaft keeps things smooth. 115 bhp at 10,000 rpm.  with a peak torque figure of 65 foot/pounds, which should arrive at 8,500 rpm.

Claimed wet weight (with 3.7 gallons of fuel) is 414 pounds, meaning that the claimed dry weight would be in the neighborhood of 390 pounds, or less!  On paper, this is an awful lot of torquey engine in a lightweight package. Both the fork and shock are adjustable for preload and rebound.
