Whether slicing through the city or taking the road less travelled, the torque-rich engine, easy handling and high fuel efficiency of the WR125R are carefully designed to make it the perfect partner for exploring the Next Horizon. With the versatile engine excelling both on- and off-road, the high fuel efficiency of over 40 km/L (WMTC mode value) making long rides a breeze, and the agile chassis offering a friendly entry point into adventure, the WR125R is bringing the freedom of motorcycling to everyone.

The refined simplicity of the WR125R makes it a comfortable and enjoyable everyday ride, with features such as the multi-function LCD instrumentation with smartphone connectivity offering convenience, and the single-channel ABS front brakes delivering confident braking performance.

The design of the WR125R takes cues from traditional Yamaha off-road themes, mixing them with modern touches. The result is a machine with bold horizontal lines blended with compact and streamlined elements, such as the striking front fairing housing the dual-lens LED headlight.
Away from the day-to-day riding, the WR125R shows that its dual-sport spirit runs deeper than the styling inspired by Yamaha’s Off Road Competition range, and why it carries the WR label with such pride. And with its capabilities extending far beyond off-road use, the WR125R enables adventure on a wide variety of surfaces, making it a true all-rounder, as happy in the city as it is on the trails.

Purposeful power
Power is not everything, but the 125cc liquid-cooled, SOHC, 4-valve, fuel-injected engine punches well above its weight in delivering a thrilling yet easy-to-manage performance.

Thanks to Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) automatically and seamlessly switching between two intake cam profiles, the WR125R offers ample low- to mid-range torque and strong power higher in the range, resulting in a highly versatile and efficient engine with 11kW of maximum power arriving at 10,000rpm and 11Nm of maximum torque at 6,500rpm. The flexible power delivery combined with the excellent throttle response lessens the likelihood of inexperienced riders stalling the bike when riding on uneven off-road surfaces and makes stop-start riding in urban environments effortless.

The engine also fights emissions with two catalysers, an O2 sensor and an evaporative system, all of which helps make it eco-friendly and compliant with the latest EU5+ regulations.

Easy handling
Working in harmony with the engine, the supple suspension and agile chassis help make the WR125R highly capable even on rough terrain. The semi-double cradle frame provides great feel on varied surfaces, even when riding at higher speeds. The suspension consists of a 41mm KYB fork and a linked-type Monocross shock to smoothly absorb bumps and resist bottoming out. The setup allows stable rides both on- and off-road. Further assisting control over challenging terrain is the 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel setup that is used across Yamaha's Adventure bike range for excellent off-road performance.

Controlling the bike on varied terrain is easy thanks to the flat seat providing a highly flexible riding position, which allows the rider to move freely on the bike, transferring weight to find the perfect balance. The smooth side panels allow easy transfer from standing to sitting, and wide footpegs give plenty of control. The seat height of 875mm makes it possible for most riders to place a foot on the ground without having to reach too far, instilling further confidence when coming to a stop.
Switching between on- and off-road riding is easy with the WR125R. The Dunlop D605 tyres offer versatile performance for those wishing to commute or enjoy the bike in the urban environment, but feel the call of adventure, and want to explore the unknown. They provide excellent grip even when the tarmac runs out. And the easy-to-replace air filter further helps with keeping the required maintenance low.
