After being elected the “World’s Best-Looking 600”, the MV Agusta F3 675 is now ready to lead the pack on both street and track. Featuring the new MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) platform, this Supersport boasts an ultra-advanced chassis and cutting-edge technology on a par with the best litre-class bikes.

Nothing less than revolutionary, the MV Agusta F3 675 is a thoroughbred thrill-generator on street or track. The unique 3-cylinder engine – with a counter-rotating crankshaft, a ground-breaking solution previously seen only on MotoGP bikes – and the ultra-compact lightweight layout are just two of many qualities that make the new F3 675 a Supersport of unrivalled sophistication – and an incomparable ride. A look at the MV Agusta F3 675 power unit quickly identifies it as the most advanced, powerful mid-weight engine ever built. A tightly compact in-line 3-cylinder with a perfect combination of forward-thinking mechanical engineering, extremely advanced materials and futuristic electronics. The MVICS system makes it the first mid-weight motorcycle to feature Full Ride By Wire control and, as a result, 4 engine maps (one of which can be customised) and 8-level traction control.

The chassis is a gem too: designed and developed to maximise dynamic performance, it offers optimum rigidity, giving a ‘feel’ that is, under all riding conditions, in a class of its own compared to other motorcycles in this category.

MV Agusta F3 675 styling development has remained faithful to the philosophy that has characterized all previous MVs: a perfect balance of form and function that merge to create a bike unique not only for its panache but also for its astounding performance.

F3 675 & F3 800

The F3 675 and F3 800 share many new mechanical and electronic features. Improvements to the chassis were also implemented. In particular, the three-cylinder engine benefits from a new frame mount point, which increases torsional and longitudinal rigidity.

EURO 4 HOMOLOGATION

MV Agusta is continuing development of its models by introducing Euro 4 certification across the entire 3 cylinder range. The necessary move from Euro 3 to Euro 4 certification offered an opportunity to carry out some development and technical improvements to make riding the super-sporty MV Agusta even more fun and exciting.

The designers and engineers focused on two objectives: compliance with certification parameters defined by the standard and, in keeping with MV Agusta traditions, maintenance of the exceptional engineering and dynamics its motorcycles are renowned for. Excellent results were obtained despite the very significant reductions in exhaust gas and noise emissions required by the Euro 4 standard. These are reduced by 50% and 48% respectively compared to Euro 3.

ENGINE

The superb in-line 675 cc three-cylinder power unit on the new F3 pays homage to the world’s most victorious motorcycle brand. It is with this architecture, in fact, that MV has competed in and won an unprecedented number of races and world championships. Today the 3-cylinder engine is back in a Supersport guise to offer up first-class technical solutions and peak performance.

This compact engine is incredibly short and narrow, an astonishing result achieved by assembling the internal components as only MV knows how. With a 79 mm bore and super-short 45.9 mm stroke, the MV Agusta 3-cylinder engine has an extreme over-square ratio that lets it achieve incredible rev levels. Ultra-advanced, it can put out 128 hp at 14,500 rpm and provide 71 Nm of torque at 10,600 rpm. Thanks also to its 15,000 rpm rev limiter, this performance level – a first in this category – is on a par with that of a number of 4-cylinder engines. And talking of ‘firsts’, this production motorcycle also features a counter-rotating crankshaft, thus honing dynamic balance to perfection and enhancing the lightning-fast handling.

Compact, light and top-of-the-category performance: these are the characteristics that make the new MV Agusta F3 675 engine the dream to chase in the Supersport class, an engine set to become the new supersport benchmark. Major contributions to lightness and compactness have come from closed-deck integration of cylinders in the crankcase, achieved via a single shell-casting, the MVICS platform and the use of titanium for both the intake and exhaust valves.

Another unique feature is integration of the oil and water circuits: the oil/water pump system and all relative flow routing is located inside the engine, ensuring the most powerful Italian 3-cylinder ever also boasts a clean, alluring outline.

CHASSIS
MV Agusta riders have always known they can count on the very best components and outstanding chassis performance. The new F3 675 is no exception to that rule and offers quality-based excellence that puts plenty of 1000 cc superbikes in the shade.

In true MV tradition the advanced frame features a combination of steel tubing and aluminium side plates; these hug the compact engine tightly, resulting in a Supersport that is streamlined to the max. Packed-in engine dimensions left designers with plenty of scope needed to develop a cutting-edge chassis with a forward pivot point and an exceptionally long single-sided swingarm that ensures exceptional traction and ‘feel’. All without compromising the wheelbase of 1,380 mm – a new record for the category – or the bike weight of just 173 kg.

As you’d expect from an MV, components are of the highest quality. The Marzocchi 43mm front fork is fully adjustable as is the Sachs monoshock with separate nitrogen reservoir. The braking system is the best the market can offer: Nissin radial master cylinder, Brembo radial calipers and 320 mm discs are coupled with ultra-light wheels to reduce unsprung mass even further and so give the F3 675 heaven-sent handling performance.

MECHANICALS

The most important figure is the confirmation of the declared maximum power output: 128 hp for the F3 675, and 144 hp for the F3 800.

ELECTRONICS

The MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) has been upgraded to improve the ability to achieve the dynamic excellence which has become an MV Agusta hallmark. Engine management algorithms have undergone extensive redesign, enhancing Ride By Wire efficiency. In particular, these improvements concern the relationship between throttle twist and power delivery, which is now more efficient and direct.

Ignition strategy and mapping have been redesigned to improve the power and torque characteristics.

Traction control parameters have also been completely redesigned, giving improved performance whatever the riding conditions. There have also been improvements to EAS 2.0, the electronic up and down assisted gear shifter, which makes gear changes gentler and more precise.

The instrumentation panel, acclaimed for its design and practicality , now includes an OBD light for Euro 4 related diagnostics.

New engine protective covers have been introduced.

These protect the vehicle against collisions or falls and reduce mechanical noise emissions. A thorough study of sound frequencies, aimed at eliminating or at least significantly reducing the overall vehicle noise while amplifying the characteristic sound, has contributed to the preservation and promotion of those frequencies which define the umistakeable MV Agusta “rumble”. These results show how adapting to new regulatory requirements can help improve a product and promote its distinctive characteristics.
