        KTM RC 250 Special Edition

KTM has released a special edition variant of their quarter-litre sportbike, the RC 250 SE. The RC 250 is essentially a fully-faired version of the 250 Duke streetfighter. The RC 250 SE features a side-slung exhaust canister in place of the underbelly exhaust in the standard model. This exhaust is similar to the one in the 390 Duke. KTM claims that apart from a racier sound note, this exhaust adds 1bhp to the power output of the motorcycle. There are other cosmetic or mechanical upgrades in the SE. Side-slung exhausts enjoy a better demand among the Indonesian audience as compared to underbelly systems. The RC 250 SE is the second special edition KTM model to feature this exhaust system after the 200 Duke.
The KTM RC 250 looks largely identical to it's bigger sibling the KTM RC 390. It will share most of its features and specifications from the Duke 250. Similar to the Duke 250, the RC 250cc model will be positioned between the RC 200 and RC 390. It is powered by the same 248.8cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with fuel injection. The RC250 engine gets a shorter bore and stroke as compared to the 373.3cc mill on the Duke & RC 390 and also comes equipped with NiKaSil coating for better combustion & smooth performance. The power train is good for 32hp of power and 24Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox, and with a slipper clutch as standard. It misses out on ride-by-wire technology, which is currently available in the bigger sibling.
