The rugged and tough 2016 Kawasaki KLR™650 motorcycle is built for adventure. It will take you where you want to go in comfort, year-round, and with a budget-conscious package. Riders on pavement or off-highway will benefit from the KLR650 motorcycle’s phenomenal fuel range from its 6.1-gallon tank. In fact, this innovator of the dual-purpose category will take riders practically anywhere they’ve dreamed of visiting.

The adjustable, long-travel 41mm telescopic front fork and Uni-Trak® rear suspension contribute to the superb balance of the dependable KLR650, providing excellent composure when ridden on canyon roads. It also offers significant bottoming resistance when ridden over technical off-highway terrain.

The multi-contoured, dimpled seat is narrow at the front for an easy reach to the ground, and wider towards the rear to enhance rider maneuverability and boost long-range comfort. • NEW 2016 Matrix Camo Gray color scheme available

• Adjustable Uni-Trak® rear suspension

• Multi-contoured seat with dimpled cover

• 6.1-gallon fuel tank for long-range adventure touring

ENGINE

The KLR650 motorcycle uses a rock-solid 651cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine with double engine balancer, provides ample horsepower and smooth delivery to ensure this world-traveling explorer in reaching their destination.

The five-speed transmission contributes to the robust bottom-end pull. This versatile package gives the rider the confidence and ability to trek across the environment from deserts to metropolitan traffic – all handled with the same high level of proficiency.

SUSPENSION

The suspension of the KLR650 provides an ample 7.9” of front wheel travel, and 7.3” of rear suspension travel. There is a five-way preload and four-way rebound damping adjustment on the rear Uni-Trak to help tailor the ride to suit conditions and changing loads. The 41mm front fork features firm spring and rebound damping rates to create confidence-inspiring handling.

Together, the suspension and its long wheel travel makes the KLR650 motorcycle a fun and functional commuter during the week, a competent back-road hauler on the weekends, and a very willing partner for extended on- and off-highway adventures.

BRAKES

Braking duties are handled by a dual-piston front caliper gripping a 280mm petal-style rotor, while a 240mm petal-style rotor is squeezed by a single-piston caliper in the rear.

Thanks to its stiff suspension settings, the KLR650 motorcycle has a neutral position under heavy braking. The suspension and brake package boosts the motorcycle’s on-road performance and increases its off-road versatility.

ERGONOMICS & EFFICIENCY

The KLR650 motorcycle seat has a narrow front section with a rounded profile to make it easier for riders to reach the ground, while also enhancing off-highway maneuverability. Towards the rear of the seat it has a slightly tapered profile, which produces a wide, stable platform for supreme comfort for both the rider and passenger.

The rear luggage rack is built using a sturdy composite material, which is lightweight and ideal for long-distance touring. It can be fitted with a variety of optional luggage-related Kawasaki Genuine Accessories options to make the KLR650 motorcycle a highly capable touring companion.

Coupling its contoured seat and generous 6.1-gallon fuel capacity means riders will be able to enjoy long rides on the KLR650 motorcycle with confidence on the highway or trail.

Wind protection is handled by the frame-mounted bodywork, which includes a tall windshield and large shrouds to help protect the rider and passenger from the elements.

The KLR650 is a competent on-road performer, which is able to continue once the pavement stops. An engine guard helps to keep loose rocks and gravel at bay, while its US Forest Service-approved spark arrestor grants the KLR650 motorcycle access to roads open to licensed vehicles. Add the optional tank bag, tail bag and saddlebags available from the range of Kawasaki Genuine Accessories, and you have a recipe for long-distance exploration, beckoning KLR650 owners to enjoy on- and off-highway adventures.

COLOR OPTIONS

New for the 2016 Kawasaki KLR650 motorcycle is the inclusion of Matrix Camo Gray. The KLR650 motorcycle will also continue to be available in Candy Lime Green and Ebony.
