Kawasaki KLR 650S
The Kawasaki’s legendary KLR650 enters its 40th year in 2027 stronger than ever. Rather than reinventing the proven dual-sport platform, Kawasaki has expanded the lineup with targeted variants that give riders clearer choices based on height, intended use, and desired equipment. The 2027 range centers on three standout models — the lower-seat KLR650 S, the fully equipped KLR650 Adventure, and the brand-new rugged KLR650 DF — all sharing the same reliable 652 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine and long-travel dual-sport DNA.
Shared Foundation: The Heart of the KLR The upright ergonomics, long-travel suspension, and straightforward mechanical nature remain consistent across the family, delivering the same approachable power delivery and go-anywhere capability that KLR riders have relied on for decades.
KLR650 S — Accessibility Without Compromise Key differences from the standard-height models include shorter suspension travel (approximately 6.7 inches front / 7.0 inches rear) and subtle ergonomic tweaks such as increased shifter-to-footpeg distance. Despite the lower stance, the S retains the same engine, fuel capacity, and core equipment: adjustable windscreen, hand guards, and rear carrier. Colour: Metallic Spark Black The S makes the KLR’s legendary durability and range accessible to a wider range of riders without sacrificing the fundamental character of the motorcycle.
KLR650 DF — Durable Force for Rugged Use Standout features: It uses the full-height geometry of the standard KLR: The DF is ideal for riders who want factory protection and a tougher aesthetic without the full touring luggage suite of the Adventure model. It is especially appealing to those who prefer soft luggage or plan to add their own carrying solutions.
KLR650 Adventure ABS — Ready for the Long Haul Standard equipment beyond the base platform: It shares the full-height geometry and long-travel suspension of the standard
and DF models (34.3-inch seat height, 8.3-inch ground clearance). The added
equipment increases curb weight to approximately 487 lb (221 kg).
