Buell Super Cruiser Café Racer Concept

Buell Motorcycles, the American brand known for innovative engineering and raw performance, has revived its legacy with the 2026 Super Cruiser — a bold, high-powered cruiser that blends muscle with modern superbike capabilities. Among the most exciting developments is the factory-backed Super Cruiser Cafe Racer Custom, a track-focused interpretation unveiled at Daytona Bike Week 2026 that showcases the platform’s massive customization potential.

While the stock Super Cruiser already incorporates cafe-inspired elements like its fairing, Buell’s internal “Operation B.A.D.A.S.S.” team took it further with a dedicated Cafe Racer Custom. Built as a one-off concept (evolving from the 2025 Flat Tracker custom), it transforms the bike into a low-slung, aggressive machine ideal for twisty roads or track days.

Notable modifications on the Cafe Racer build include:
- Lowered suspension (Öhlins system, about 2.5 inches shorter than stock) for a more aggressive stance.
- Clubman bars sourced from the Buell 1125CR, promoting a tucked-in riding position.
- Retention of Buell’s signature ZTL perimeter brake.
- Race slick tires and a Square One race exhaust for maximized performance and sound.
- A raw, no-frills aesthetic focused on function over flashy add-ons.

Builder Jacob Stark emphasized the philosophy: “No fluff here... It’s not going out there to convince people it’s cool; it just is.” This build highlights how owners can personalize their Super Cruisers into unique machines without sacrificing the platform’s core performance.

Erik Buell’s original company gained fame for lightweight, handling-focused sportbikes with innovative features like perimeter brakes and fuel-in-frame designs. After periods of collaboration with Harley-Davidson and independent revivals, the new Buell Motorcycle Co. (based in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is delivering hand-assembled bikes with a strong emphasis on American-made performance.

The Super Cruiser represents a shift toward the cruiser segment while retaining sportbike DNA — a “heels-in-the-air, high-bar” cruiser that’s ready for the track. The Cafe Racer Custom proves the chassis and modular design invite creativity, whether for street, track, or show.

In an era of homogenized motorcycles, the Buell Super Cruiser Cafe Racer stands out as a versatile, powerful, and customizable option. It appeals to riders who want cruiser comfort and style with superbike thrills — and the factory custom demonstrates that the platform can evolve into classic cafe racer territory with minimal compromise.

Whilst Buell has revealed a cafe racer version of its 173bhp Super Cruiser, the carbon-fibre custom isn't destined for production
