Benelli has introduced for 2020 the Benelli Leoncino 800 and Benelli 800 Trail, This retro-styled pair of twins draw on Benelli’s previous Leoncino designs for the 250 and 500 class.

Displacing 754 cc, both the Leoncino 800 and 800 Trail have identical liquid-cooled two-cylinder engines with four-valves per cylinder, putting out 81.6 hp at 9,000 rpm and 67 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Fuelling is by EFI with twin 43 mm throttle bodies and power gets to the ground via six-speed gearbox and chain final drive.

Carried inside a tubular trellis frame, Benelli’s pair of 800s use Marzocchi 50 mm diameter upside-down forks in front and preload-adjustable monoshock at the back. The Leoncino 800 gets 130 mm of travel from the forks while the 800 Trail gets extendable forks giving an additional 10 mm of travel for off-road work.

This raises the seat of the 800 Trail from 800 mm to 818 mm while the Leoncino 800’s seat height is fixed at 800 mm. Braking is done with Brembo radial-mount monobloc callipers with twin semi-floating 320 mm discs in front and 260 mm disc with two-piston calliper at the back.

For wheel sizes, the Leoncino uses 17-inch wheels front and rear shod in 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 rubber while the 800 Trail rolls on a 19-inch wheel with 120/70 tyre and 17-inch hoop at the back covered in 170/60 size tyre. Weight for the 800 Trail is 224 kg and fuel is carried in a 15-litre tank while the Leoncino 800 weighs 220 and has an identical fuel tank.
