Royal Enfield Classic 650 125th Anniversary
From Royal Enfield web-site: In 2026, Royal Enfield marks a remarkable milestone — 125 years since the brand’s first motorcycle appeared in 1901. To commemorate this legacy, the company has released one of its most exclusive special editions yet: the Classic 650 125th Anniversary Edition, also known as the Hypershift Classic 650. Unveiled at EICMA 2025 and put on sale in October 2026, this limited-run motorcycle blends the Classic’s timeless retro styling with a striking, modern colour-shifting paint finish and carefully crafted commemorative details. Production is strictly capped at 625 units worldwide, with just 125 allocated to each of Royal Enfield’s key global regions.
Design: Alchemy of Heritage and Modernity The paint covers the signature teardrop fuel tank, fenders,
side panels, and nacelle-mounted headlamp. Complementary details elevate the
exclusivity: The overall silhouette remains pure Classic: rounded forms, nacelle headlight, twin peashooter-style exhausts, and wire-spoke wheels. The result feels both deeply traditional and distinctly special. Mechanical Package: Proven 650 Twin Platform
Key performance figures: The chassis uses a steel-tube spine frame shared with other 650-platform models. Suspension consists of non-adjustable Showa telescopic front forks (approximately 43 mm diameter, 120 mm / 4.7 inches of travel) and twin-tube hydraulic Showa rear shocks with spring preload adjustment (about 90 mm / 3.5 inches of travel). Braking is handled by a 320 mm front disc and 300 mm rear disc, both with twin-piston floating calipers and dual-channel ABS as standard. The bike rolls on 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels fitted with 100/90-19 and 140/70-18 tyres. Key dimensions and capacities:
Standard equipment includes an LED headlight with Tiger Eye pilot lights, LED taillight, analogue speedometer with LCD inset, gear position indicator, USB Type-C charging port, and Tripper navigation pod on many markets. The Classic 650 125th Anniversary Edition is not a performance-focused special. It offers the same smooth, characterful riding experience as the regular Classic 650 — relaxed ergonomics, accessible power delivery, and that distinctive parallel-twin soundtrack. Its appeal lies firmly in exclusivity, craftsmanship, and visual drama. For collectors and enthusiasts who value Royal Enfield’s long history, the combination of extremely limited production numbers, the unique Hypershift finish, and the carefully executed commemorative details makes this a significant motorcycle. It stands as both a usable everyday classic and a tangible piece of the brand’s 125-year story. In an era when many anniversary models feel like simple
colourway changes, Royal Enfield has delivered something more intentional — a
motorcycle that genuinely attempts to capture a century and a quarter of
motorcycling heritage in one evocative package.
