MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR Custom by Roland Sands
Design
Based on a 2015 MV Agusta Brutale Dragster 800RR, this
commissioned build was transformed into a classic MV inspired
modern cafe racer by
Roland Sands Design, and was shown at the One Moto Show in
Portland.
As with all RSD's performance builds, maintaining a fully functional machine,
and improving that performance are paramount in their process. With this MV
Dragster, their goal was to bring a classic aesthetic to the platform while
maintaining the MV's racer spirit.
The Dragster received major revisions on the ergonomics.
- The top triple clamp and standard upright handlebars were replaced with a
set of clip on's
- The factory foot controls were swapped for RSD components and positioned
them higher for ample road clearance
- A one-off subframe was hand fabricated with Chromoly-tapered tubing
- A hand made aluminum gas tank was built in the spirit of championed MV
racers of the past, and the typical twist off gas cap with a modern, quick fill
style endurance racing fuel filler
- A modern minimalist café style light and handbuilt aluminum shroud
replaced the front light
- The radiator shrouds were also fabricated out of aluminum and then
re-popped in carbon
- A custom set of RSD forged racing wheels were machined from blank billet
aluminum using the standard MV hub design
- The wheels, trellis frame and custom subframe were then covered in a
Cerakote “Blue Titanium H-185” finish by Specialized Coatings
- Using MV's hub design allowed RSD to take advantage of the beautiful
architecture of the stock single-sided swingarm showcasing the intricate design
details of the wheel while giving the bike an un-obscured splash of color.
- Brembo nickel GP racing calipers front and back coupled with RSD radial
masters on the controls.
- A custom grippier suede Café seat was made by Bitchin Rich
- GP suspension rebuilt the forks and coated them in a slick black finish
replacing the stock red fork tubes
- The custom Aquamarine RSD wheels are wrapped in sticky Dunlop Sportmax
Q4's.
- Zard fabricated the unique custom header and exhaust in full titanium,
giving it a decent bump in power from its claimed 140 horsepower, and more
importantly, an earth-shattering exhaust note for that 798cc triple.
- Chris Woods was responsible for the challenging paint work and the team
at Airtrix dealt with the detailing colour matching used on the stripes
