Ducati Scrambler Hondo Grattan by Deus Milan

Ducati has sent three bikes to three custom builders and asked them to go wild and creative with these machines. Deus Ex Machina with their "Hondo Grattan", Officine Mermaid with "Scratch" and Mr. Martini's "SCR" have been the lucky three workshops which have been chosen to deliver the first official custom Ducati Scrambler bikes. The custom shops received a Full Throttle, Urban Enduro and a Classic, respectively.

Hondo Grattan by Deus Milan

Deus’ Milan-based HQ delivers the Hondo Grattan dirt racer, a bike which got its name after the horse that won everything at the Harold Park race track in Sydney, Australia. Deus relocated the air filter inside the frame, added a larger front rotor, a custom shorty silencer and a race-inspired bodywork.

The tails section is a one-piece design, with a funny-looking azure suede solo seat, and a front fascia which acts as a race number plate and headlight casing. The diminutive front fender incorporates fork protectors and is there only for the sake of styling, as it will not be able to fend off mud and gravel.

"The main focus is on the aluminium bodywork, with a single-piece tail, number-plate support and a headlight inspired by speedway bikes. An asymmetric mudguard completes the project, together with lots of little details such as the positioning of the conic filter within the frame, the disc brake and, of course, the dedicated exhaust. The name however comes from Carby, creative director of Deus Australia, who was in Milan at the time; he saw the project when it was almost complete and fell in love with it, naming it Hondo Grattan, after the horse that won everything on the Harold Park race-track. Who knows, in the not-too-distant future, perhaps our bike will end up on that track too," says Filippo Bassoli, MD, Deus Italy.
