BMW R nineT Dakar by Chalermphol

.

Bangkok-based builder and former Enduro rider, Ek Chalermphol, transformed a standard BMW RnineT Urban G/S model into a modern tribute to the HPN Motorradtechnik-prepped G/S that first won the Dakar in 1981.

This Dakar Rally looking motorcycle received a complete bodywork makeover with a new maxi nylon fuel tank which were provided by Unit Garage in Rimini, as well as one of the shop’s seats, done in blue.

The MX front fender and blue splashguard are replicas from the Italian company UFO Plast. The rear fender and licence plate holder come from an enduro bike.

The headlight nacelle features a modern LED light.

There’s also a small Wunderlich luggage rack, a period-correct 1980s Acerbis water bottle on the right, custom side panels, and Wunderlich headers feeding into a high-mount SuperTrapp exhaust.

The custom BMW RnineT Urban G/S Dakar Rally version features the standard fork fitted with an Öhlins NIX 22 cartridge kit and an Ohlins steering damper. On the rear, Ek Chalermphol equipped the bike with an Ohlins STX 46 monoshock.
