WalzWerk BMW R100GS Raid and Rally (custom)
WalzWerk Motorcycles is a legendary custom bike manufacturer based in Hockenheim, Germany. Founded by Marcus Walz over 35 years ago, the workshop has built more than 1200 custom motorcycles and is now one of the world’s leading names in BMW boxer customs, turning out around 100 bikes a year. Known for their unmistakable style and obsessive craftsmanship, they blend classic designs with modern performance.
Both the Rally and Raid models are fully rebuilt using new parts throughout, based on a classic air-cooled BMW R100GS Paralever. They share the same core specs: 1,000cc boxer twin putting out about 67-70 horsepower, with an optional 1,070cc upgrade for roughly 80 hp. Wet weight is 188 kg — over 20% lighter than stock.
Suspension is upgraded by Touratech: front forks
with cartridge kit and progressive springs give 200 mm travel,
while a custom rear shock delive+rs 180 mm with full
adjustability including ride height.
Tires are typically Continental TKC 80 dual-purpose knobbies.
The main differences are in the bodywork: Rally
has a small headlight nacelle and compact fairing, while Raid
keeps the larger fairing, 26-liter tank, and crash bars. Both
get a custom WalzWerk subframe, two-piece gel seat, Acerbis
fenders, and stainless exhaust.
