UMC-063 ZERO XP | EXPERIMENTAL by Untitled Motorcycles

.

Zero Motorcycles gave a new SR/F to Californian custom motorcycle builder Hugo Eccles from UMC to customize.   It is called the UMC-063 ZERO XP | EXPERIMENTAL 2020 Zero SR/F and was presented at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The ZERO XP is an experimental electric motorcycle that explores the future of motorcycle design. The XP’s core is a machined aerospace-grade aluminum powertrain that contains the batteries, charger, and motor. The 14.4kW motor produces 140ftlb/190Nm of torque (almost 40% more than a Ducati Panigale), capable of accelerating the XP to 124mph/200kph with a single twist of the wrist.

"This isn’t about novelty for novelty’s sake, or some nostalgic idea of the future," Eccles said in a statement. "The goal is to celebrate this unique riding experience through an entirely new function-led aesthetic. If the Zero XP looks futuristic, it’s because electric motorcycles like the SR/F are the future.

"From the outset I knew that I didn’t want to hide the powertrain behind a fairing. I wanted to unapologetically celebrate the character of this motorcycle."

His comments were added to by Zero’s Brian Wismann, who said: "We appreciate how [Hugo] works with a select group of brands on a few carefully-chosen projects. We’d been looking for the right opportunity to work together for a while and felt the SR/F was the perfect fit.

"Hugo is one of the most interesting designer-builders out there and it shows with the Zero XP. You can really see his industrial design perspective in every detail. He’s created something truly exceptional.”
