he XT250 borrows heavily from the TT250 as well
as the XT600. It now features the patented YDIS intake system, which utilizes twin
carbs to smooth power delivery. This bike also features a four-valve
cylinder head, with the intake valves offset to produce additional
turbulence within the combustion chamber. There is also a gear-driven,
single-shaft counterbalancer to ensure minimum vibration. Also new for '84
is a six-speed gearbox, air-assisted fork and link-type single-shock rear
suspension that provides rising-rate geometry. Yamaha also worked hard in
the area of weight reduction so the XT250 should be more nimble and fun to
ride than ever before.
