An attempt by the Hinckley firm to relive some
of Triumph's glory days, the Bonneville is a shameless reincarnation of the
famous roadster of the 1960s and 1970s. An all-new engine uses four-valve
heads for performance and emissions efficiency, but has been styled
externally to look like the OHV design of the old Bonneville. Fake pushrod
tubes, rounded cases and a disguised overhead camshaft do a good job - the
new 360° twin engine looks very authentic from the outside. Inside, though,
it uses a pair of balance shafts to reduce vibration. The rest of the bike
follows a similar pattern - modern components with modern performance and
reliability, but with 1960s styling.
