Rapid reflections

As the countryside flashes past it reflects for a fleeting moment in the shiny aluminium finish of this new generation of California... The name “Aluminium” reflects the modern design of a motorcycle that combines a sporting soul with the traditional Californian passion for the open road. The tank, side panels, alternator covers and cradle covers are finished in bright aluminium to reflect the bike’s aggressively individualist design.

The handlebars also highlight the Aluminium’s sports temperament. Their decisive, true-grit style features a long straight central section and thick mounting bars . The side panels, more slender and aerodynamic than on other California models, also bring out the bike’s true mettle, as does the eye-catching, compact front mudguard. In contrast, the bike’s natural riding position and its pounding 90° V-Twin heart, with hydraulic tappets and catalyzed exhaust for 2003, are familiar and reassuring.

The exhaust system is quieter and cleaner and also features new heat-shields on the silencers to protect the legs of rider and passenger from accidental burns. The Aluminium’s impressive top speed will satisfy even the most intrepid riders, while anyone who has sat on its anatomically padded saddle will tell you that in terms of comfort the Aluminium is second to none.
