The Monster range, together with the Desmoquattro superbike range, has been the foundation of Ducati's success. The 900 Monster, introduced in 1993, was the first version of the stylish naked roadster. The brainchild of Miguel Angel Galluzzi, II Monstro was a mishmash of other Ducati components: the engine was from the 900SS, the frame was an 851/888 part and the suspension and brakes were common to the 750SS. The whole was more than the sum of the parts however. Its exciting blend of performance and style made it a hit in European high streets, and a full capacity range soon followed. The latest fuel injected version of the Monster 900 offers improved performance and refinement.
