The first ETX 125, marketed in 1984, is characterized by a Rotax 126 engine with no exhaust valve RAVE Aprilia and is the first mass-produced to fit the engine produced by the Austrian company. At a pre-series marketed at the end of 1984 is immediately followed by the final version sold in January 1985. The final version differs from the pre-set for the following changes:

Frame painted in red (in the pre-series is painted silver)
Air scoops painted gray (in the pre-series painted white)
Sella blue or red with white screen-printed sideways in the written Aprilia (in pre-production on the flanks saddle is screen-printed  "Aprilia ETX")
Different graphic decals of the tank (the fairings are painted white in both versions)

The ETX has a nice line with superstructures well designed and implemented. Valid and complete instrumentation with water thermometer placed on the radiator itself and the beautiful blocks electrical CEV. The chassis - the same as for the pre-series - uses a single beam steel frame to cradle split square tube of a conventional fork Marzocchi 35mm coupled to a rear suspension that uses the proven APS system. The braking system uses a 230 mm front disc and rear drum by a 125mm. The Rotax 126 engine is equipped with reed valve induction, forced circulation cooling and automatic mixer. There are no exhaust valve, balance shaft or electric starter. The maximum power is  at the wheel of 18.28hp at 8250 rpm and the maximum speed of 121.5 km / h. Price in 1984: Lire 3,250,000
