The SPR version of the F4 is externally similar to the F4S. The upside-down front forks, single-sided swingarm and stunning bodywork are all identical to the basic bike, but many engine and chassis details have been modified to improve track performance. As on the Senna model, lighter, stronger Mahle forged pistons allow power to be produced at higher levels.

The Weber-Marelli fuel-injection system of the F4 is adapted for higher revs, and a lighter crankshaft improves throttle response. Many chassis parts, including the front mudguard and the chain guards, are replaced by carbon-fibre parts, reducing weight by 4kg (8.81b), and the innovative dash now includes a track chronometer function.
