Kawasaki extended its retro musclebike lineup with this
'muscle tourer'. Essentially the ZRX1200R with a larger half-fairing, the
1200S was a straightforward way to produce a new all-rounder. The curvaceous
half-fairing offers effective wind protection, guiding the blast up and over
the rider. A twin-beam reflector headlight gives excellent illumination, and
wide-set mirrors further improve usability. A revised dashboard includes a
temperature and fuel gauge. These changes make the ZRX1200S a good choice
for middle-distance touring, although the 140 mile range of the 19 litre
tank isn't particularly impressive. The 1200S carries some extra weight over
the ZRX1200R, but handles and performs almost identically.
